Volunteer Opportunity: Bring Connection and Conversation to Eugenio!
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Ageing with Grace believes that social connections are essential to the well-being of older people. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, friendly Volunteer Visitors to spend time with older people who are at risk of social isolation and loneliness.
We are currently searching for a friendly, engaging volunteer (18 years of age or older, preferably male and Portuguese-speaking) to spend some quality one-on-one time with Eugenio.
About Eugenio:
Eugenio is currently struggling with social isolation and would greatly benefit from a regular, friendly visitor. He loves keeping up with the world by watching the news and enjoys the quiet beauty of gardening. To help him feel most comfortable and connected, Eugenio would prefer a male companion who can speak Portuguese so they can share a warm chat in his native language.
The Role:
- What: 1:1 companionship and language connection.
- Activities: Having a bright conversation in Portuguese, discussing current events/the news, or talking about gardening.
- Time Commitment: Flexible hours to suit your schedule (weekly or fortnightly visits).
About You:
- You are a male volunteer who speaks Portuguese.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You possess a kind heart, deep compassion, and reliability.
About the Program:
This position is supported by the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS). The ACVVS is a government-funded program designed to combat social isolation and help develop social connections.
By giving just an hour or two of your time, you can make a massive difference in Eugenio's week, helping him feel connected to his language and community again.
