Share a Yarn, a Chat, and a Connection with Veteran Carmel!
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Ageing with Grace believes that social connections are essential to the well-being of older people. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, friendly Volunteer Visitors to spend time with older people who are at risk of social isolation and loneliness.

Carmel has a proud history of service, having previously served in the Australian Army. Currently experiencing social isolation, she would greatly benefit from a regular, friendly face to help her stay connected. Carmel has a creative side and loves knitting. To match her comfort and background, she would prefer an Australian female companion who can join her for relaxed 1:1 conversations and perhaps share a passion for crafting.
The Role:
- What: 1:1 companionship and social visits.
- Activities: Enjoying a warm cup of tea, having a bright chat, sharing stories, or knitting together.
- Time Commitment: Flexible hours to suit your schedule (weekly or fortnightly visits).
About You:
- You are an Australian female volunteer
(to match Carmel's preference). - You are 18 years of age or older.
- You possess a kind heart, compassion, and reliability.
- An interest in knitting, crafts, or military history is a wonderful bonus, but not required!
About the Program:
This position is supported by the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS). The ACVVS is a government-funded program designed to combat social isolation and help develop social connections.
By giving just an hour or two of your time, you can make a massive difference in Carmel's week, honoring her background while building a rewarding friendship.
