Volunteer Opportunity: Bring Light and Comfort to Dorothy's Bedside!
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Ageing with Grace believes that social connections are essential to the well-being of older people. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, friendly Volunteer Visitors to spend time with older people who are at risk of social isolation and loneliness.
We are currently searching for a friendly, engaging female volunteer (18 years of age or older) to spend some quality one-on-one time with Dorothy.
About Dorothy:
Dorothy is currently struggling with loneliness and is deeply missing regular human interaction. Because she is bedridden, her world has become very small, and she would benefit immensely from a kind, reliable female visitor who can step into her room, offer a gentle presence, and share in warm, supportive conversations from her bedside.
The Role:
- What: 1:1 room-bound companionship and social visits.
- Activities: Enjoying relaxed bedside conversations, sharing everyday stories, and providing a friendly, comforting presence.
- Time Commitment: Flexible hours to suit your schedule (weekly or fortnightly visits).
About You:
- You are a female volunteer
(to match Dorothy's comfort and preference). - You are 18 years of age or older.
- You possess a kind, patient heart, deep compassion, and reliability.
- You are an empathetic listener who values genuine connection and friendship.
About the Program:
This position is supported by the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS). The ACVVS is a government-funded program designed to combat social isolation and help develop social connections.
By giving just an hour or two of your time, you can completely transform Dorothy's week, break her isolation, and bring the warmth of the community right to her bedside.
