Greek-background Volunteer Visitor – Friendship & Conversation in Clayton South
Would you enjoy sharing conversation, culture and companionship with an older gentleman from Greece?
MiCare is looking for a friendly volunteer of Greek background to provide regular social visits and companionship to an older gentleman living in Clayton South, VIC.
He would particularly enjoy being matched with someone who shares a Greek cultural background, so they can connect through familiar experiences, traditions, stories and everyday conversation.
Your visits might include having a coffee together, chatting about life, sharing memories, talking about Greek culture, or simply enjoying each other’s company.
Having someone with a shared cultural background can create an immediate sense of familiarity and connection. Through regular visits, you can help him stay socially connected, reduce feelings of isolation, and bring more companionship and enjoyment into his everyday life.
About the commitment
We are looking for someone who can visit weekly or fortnightly and ideally commit to volunteering for at least six months.
This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity, and we hope to support you in building a genuine and lasting friendship with the person you visit.
As a MiCare volunteer, you will receive:
- Full training and induction
- Ongoing support from the MiCare team
- Reimbursement for eligible travel expenses
- Opportunities to attend volunteer catch-ups and events
