Volunteer Op Shop Assistant – St Marys, Tasmania

The St Marys District School Association Op Shop is seeking friendly, reliable volunteers to join our welcoming team.

Our volunteers assist with the day-to-day operation of the shop, including:

  • Welcoming and assisting customers
  • Operating the cash register
  • Sorting, pricing and displaying donated goods
  • Keeping the shop clean, tidy and well organised
  • Restocking shelves and clothing racks
  • Working cooperatively with other volunteers
  • Supporting the shop’s fundraising and community activities
  • Sorting in the storage area

Regular volunteers are asked to commit to the same shift each week wherever possible, helping us maintain reliable roster coverage. Additional shifts may be offered by mutual agreement, but volunteers will not be expected to work more than 15 hours per week.

We also have a casual on-call register for volunteers who cannot commit to a permanent weekly shift. On-call volunteers may be contacted occasionally to cover sickness, leave or unexpected vacancies. There is no minimum monthly commitment, and volunteers are free to accept or decline each offered shift according to their availability.

No previous retail experience is necessary, as training and ongoing support will be provided. We are looking for people who are dependable, enjoy meeting others and are comfortable working as part of a team.
