This volunteer opportunity will help to mentor Project Search interns helping build the skills and confidence to complete their internship program successfully 

 

Project Search Mentors work in communication with Job Coaches to provide an extra set of hands and eyes to support interns on the job as they complete their assigned placements and tasks in various roles within UnitingCare. 

 

Mentors may support Project SEARCH interns in a hospital setting or at the UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) Central Head Office, depending on the intern's placement. The role involves working alongside interns, Job Coaches and workplace staff in a professional and supportive environment. Mentors may provide support in a range of workplace areas and should be comfortable working in a busy environment and adapting to the needs of people with a disability.

✅ What you’ll be doing:

- No formal case notes are required to be completed by the Mentor 

- Building positive rapport and relationships with interns 

- Supporting interns to develop and practise workplace skills 

- Encouraging confidence, independence and personal growth 

- Providing guidance and encouragement during workplace tasks 

- Observing and supporting interns as they complete their assigned duties 

- Communicating regularly with the Job Coach regarding the intern's progress and any concerns 

- Following workplace, health and safety and confidentiality requirements
