The opportunity

The Toy Rotation Manager keeps our playgroup activities fresh and engaging by switching out toys from our amazing toy store room into the playhouse. You will create fun themes for our little visitors to explore, such as grocery shopping, Australian animals, or emergency services. The role involves organising the toys in our toy storeroom, and creating a welcoming play environment for children and families.

Duties and responsibilities

• Rotate the toys. You will keep the playhouse fresh and engaging for our community, by putting out a selection of toys into the playhouse every couple of weeks. You’ll rotate toys through the storeroom to provide variety.
• Theme the toy rotations. You’ll use your creativity and understanding of young children, to develop simple themes for toy rotations. We have plenty of toys for themes such as dinosaurs, ocean, sports, farm, building and emergency services.
• Organise the store room. You will keep the toy storeroom tidy, organised and easy to use. You will create storage systems and processes to ensure that toy sets are stored together with their matching pieces, and are stored in a logical way.
• Maintain toys. Check that toys are clean, safe, complete and well maintained. You’ll also help to decide when toys need to be repaired or disposed of and which new toys should be sourced to support upcoming themes or activities.
• Committee meetings. The toy rotation manager will be invited to participate in one committee meeting per term. These are often done via zoom.
• Coordinate with volunteers. We invite our parents to volunteer to assist you with toy rotations, so you will be able to coordinate and lead volunteer helpers.

• Organised and able to maintain a tidy storeroom.
• Enjoys creating fun and engaging play experiences for young children.
• Reliable and comfortable working independently.
• Has an eye for detail and enjoys sorting and coordinating toys.
• Understands the importance of toy safety and maintenance.
• Creative and happy to suggest simple themes for toy rotations.
• Willing to work cooperatively with other playgroup volunteers.
