Volunteer Presenter Liaison & Social Media Coordinator

The Stairway Project Inc

Love music, people and social media? Help connect the voices behind the microphone with the people listening!

MITE Radio is an Australian not-for-profit online radio station bringing mature Australians together through great music, conversation, technology tips and digital inclusion.

Our volunteer presenters come from across Australia and around the world, each with their own personality, stories and love of music. We're looking for a friendly, organised volunteer to become their main point of contact, help them feel appreciated and supported, and introduce listeners to the people behind their favourite shows.

This is more than a social media role. It's about relationships, community and helping presenters share their passion.

What you'll be doing

Supporting our presenters

  • Be the main contact for local and international volunteer presenters, including welcoming new presenters.
  • Keep in touch, learn about their shows and interests, and share relevant station updates.
  • Recognise their contributions and help them feel part of the MITE Radio community.

Connecting presenters and listeners

  • Discover stories, musical interests and behind-the-scenes moments worth sharing.
  • Create engaging presenter features and program promotions.
  • Respond to listener comments and questions, checking with presenters where needed.

Helping presenters promote their shows

  • Be a friendly social media mentor, helping presenters create their own promotional content.
  • Share practical tips for platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Mixcloud.
  • Encourage presenters to build confidence and promote their programs independently.

Working with our social media and advertising volunteers

  • Coordinate with the volunteer managing MITE Radio's day-to-day social media, while taking the lead on presenter and program content.
  • Liaise with our Google Ads volunteer on opportunities to reach new listeners.
  • Use our Canva templates and existing material to create thoughtful promotions.
  • Focus on quality over quantity: interesting, occasional posts rather than flooding followers' feeds.

Who we're looking for

You don't need marketing qualifications or radio experience. You'll suit this role if you:

  • Enjoy meeting people, building relationships and encouraging others.
  • Communicate warmly and write engaging, conversational content.
  • Are comfortable with social media and enjoy sharing your knowledge.
  • Are organised, reliable, proactive and happy working independently.

Experience with Canva, Facebook, YouTube, Mixcloud or advertising is helpful, but people skills and initiative matter most.

What you'll get out of it

  • A meaningful role with responsibility, flexibility and freedom to contribute ideas.
  • Connections with interesting people across Australia and internationally.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement and digital promotion.
  • Access to our Canva subscription, templates and promotional resources.
  • The satisfaction of helping presenters feel valued and listeners feel connected.
  • An early look at fascinating technology stories, clever tips and fresh ideas.

You'll have existing presenter features and social media material to build on, so you won't be starting from scratch.

If you enjoy people, music and social media, we'd love to hear from you. Help us put the people behind the microphone into the spotlight!
