Founding Secretary — NSW Diabetes Lions Club
Would you like to use your organisational skills to help build something meaningful from the beginning?
The new NSW Diabetes Lions Club is seeking a person interested in becoming its Founding Secretary.
We are establishing a NSW-wide specialty Lions Club dedicated to community service for people affected by diabetes.
The Founding Secretary will work alongside the Founding President and other founding members to establish the club's administration, communication and governance systems.
Previous Lions experience is not required. Guidance and support will be available as the club develops.
What would you do?
The Secretary's responsibilities are expected to include meeting administration and minutes, correspondence, maintaining appropriate club records, assisting with member communications and helping ensure decisions and actions are followed through.
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable, comfortable communicating with people and enjoys helping a team operate effectively.
Experience in administration, governance, office management, professional services or community organisations would be useful, but formal qualifications are not required.
Do I need a connection with diabetes?
No.
We welcome people living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, carers, families, health and community professionals and others who simply want to contribute to the diabetes community.
A personal connection with diabetes is welcomed, but it is not a requirement.
Flexible participation across NSW
The club is being established using a hybrid model.
Zoom will support online participation, while WhatsApp will help members communicate and work together between meetings.
In-person meetings and service activities will also develop as the club grows, with founding members helping determine arrangements that work for the group.
This means you do not need to live near a particular meeting venue to become involved.
More than an administrative role
The Founding Secretary won't simply be taking minutes.
You will also be a founding member of the NSW Diabetes Lions Club, with an opportunity to contribute ideas, help develop projects and influence the culture and direction of the new club.
