Founding Treasurer — NSW Diabetes Lions Club

Could your financial skills help build a new community organisation?

The NSW Diabetes Lions Club is seeking an organised and trustworthy person interested in becoming our Founding Treasurer.

The club is being established to bring together people from across NSW who want to develop meaningful community-service projects for people affected by diabetes.

As Founding Treasurer, you will have an important role in establishing sound financial practices from the beginning.

What would the role involve?

Working with the President, Secretary and other founding members, the Treasurer is expected to assist with maintaining appropriate financial records, monitoring income and expenditure, preparing financial reports, assisting with budgets and helping establish appropriate financial controls for the club.

You do not necessarily need to be an accountant.

Experience in bookkeeping, finance, accounts, business administration or managing finances within another community organisation would be valuable.

Support will be available as the club is established.

Why a diabetes-focused Lions Club?

Diabetes is one of Lions International's global causes. Lions clubs undertake diabetes-related service activities including awareness, education, peer support and community partnerships.

The NSW Diabetes Lions Club will provide an opportunity to build on that work while responding specifically to needs identified within communities across NSW.

Flexible NSW-wide participation

This is being designed as a hybrid club.

Members will be able to participate through Zoom, with WhatsApp supporting communication and planning between meetings.

In-person meetings and service projects will also be developed, with the founding members helping determine how and where those activities occur.

You do not need to live in Sydney to become involved.

Be there from the beginning

This is more than a Treasurer position.

You will also become part of the founding group helping determine the club's priorities, projects and future direction.
