Young Leaders – Help Build the NSW Diabetes Lions Club

Don't just join something. Help build it.
The NSW Diabetes Lions Club is being established, and we want younger professionals, university and TAFE students, graduates and emerging community leaders involved from the beginning.
This is an opportunity to contribute to genuine community service while developing practical skills, connections and leadership experience.
You do not need to have diabetes, and you don't need previous Lions experience.
Bring the skills you're developing
A successful community organisation needs much more than health expertise.
We need people interested in areas such as marketing and social media, events, fundraising, business, communications, photography and content creation, graphic design, technology, community engagement, project management, partnerships and leadership.
You might help develop an awareness campaign, plan a community event, build our digital presence, approach potential partners, coordinate volunteers or help turn an idea into a practical service project.
Make your contribution meaningful
This isn't about giving someone a meaningless task simply so they can say they volunteered.
We want people to have an opportunity to contribute something useful.
As a founding member, you'll also be joining while decisions about the club's culture, service priorities and projects are being made.
Flexible around work and study
The NSW Diabetes Lions Club is being designed around flexible in-person and online participation.
Zoom will support meetings and planning, while WhatsApp will allow members to communicate and collaborate between meetings.
In-person service projects and activities will also develop as the club grows.
That flexibility is intended to make participation easier around work, university, TAFE, family and other commitments.
Volunteer hours
If you are seeking volunteering or community-service hours for a university, TAFE or other education program, tell us when you apply.
Where appropriate, we can discuss the requirements of your program and whether the activities available through the club are suitable.
We won't promise that Lions activities satisfy a particular institution's requirements until those requirements have been checked.
Start with service
You don't need to arrive knowing everything about Lions.
Bring your skills, ideas and willingness to help.
