Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Make outgoing telephone calls to members of the community.
- Introduce and promote the work of the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation.
- Share information about Foundation services, programs and opportunities to support our work.
- Engage positively with people and build rapport through friendly conversation.
- Respond professionally and respectfully to different responses and outcomes.
- Record relevant information and outcomes from telephone conversations.
- Follow up with contacts where appropriate.
- Identify potential opportunities for community engagement and support.
- Represent the Foundation in a positive, professional and respectful manner.
- Work collaboratively with the Events and Volunteer teams.

- Is confident and comfortable picking up the phone and starting conversations with new people.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is friendly, approachable and naturally enjoys talking with people.
- Can build rapport quickly and create positive conversations.
- Is resilient and understands that a “No”, “not right now” or “call me later” is not a personal rejection.
- Can remain positive and professional when conversations don't result in an immediate opportunity.
- Is able to turn different responses into positive interactions and leave people with a good impression of the Foundation.
- Is organised and comfortable recording information accurately.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is passionate about contributing to the community and supporting people experiencing vulnerability.
The impact of this role: This volunteer role helps extend the Foundation’s capacity to connect with the wider community and build awareness of the services we provide to vulnerable people.
By making regular, positive telephone connections, the volunteer helps identify new opportunities for community involvement, volunteering, partnerships, donations and support. This allows our staff team to focus on delivering services while increasing the Foundation’s ability to engage with more people.
The role also helps strengthen the Foundation’s community presence by ensuring every person contacted has a positive and respectful experience when learning about our work.
Ultimately, this volunteer contributes to building a stronger network of community support, helping the Foundation continue to provide vital services to people experiencing vulnerability.
