Brisbane Region of Queensland Masters Athletics requires assistance with conducting athletic meets from the start of the season on 19th of September 2026 until May 2027.
QMA conducts meets for men and women from 30 years to 100 years.
Tasks involved: Assistance is required in particular for throwing events such as discus, javelin, hammer, shot put and weight throw, and weight throwing pentathlons (all throws). Tasks involved include recording results during the event; collecting throwing implements; and pulling through the measuring tape.
For jumping events such as long jump, assistance required for marshalling competitors; pulling through the measuring tape and raking the sand pit. High jump and pole vaulting require help with raising the bar and recording.
Help may be required in marshalling sprinters and distance runners and walkers to the start of their event and manning the wind gauge for sprints.
Experience/skills: Experience in either competing or volunteering previously in athletics would be beneficial but not essential. No specific skill is required. Officials would be responsible for the conduct of each event and allocation of the volunteer's role. Interested volunteers are welcome to come to a Meet just to observe initially.
**Please note: All events take place outdoors with limited shade. Hats and water are essential.
