Be part of the inaugural board of Hockey Brisbane, the new, unified governing body for Hockey in Brisbane

The Opportunity

Brisbane Hockey Association (BHA), Brisbane Women's Hockey Association (BWHA), and Hockey Brisbane Incorporated are amalgamating to form Hockey Brisbane Limited, a single company limited by guarantee governing hockey across the region from 2027.

This follows a near-unanimous 2025 independent stakeholder review recommending one governing body for Brisbane hockey, and is subject to member approval at Special General Meetings later in 2026.

The Hockey Brisbane Taskforce is seeking expressions of interest from experienced, values-driven individuals our inaugural board.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new sporting organisation from its foundations: setting its governance framework, culture and strategic direction for the benefit of players, clubs, volunteers and the broader hockey community.

Positions Available

• Board Directors (up to seven positions), selected against a skills matrix spanning governance, finance, legal, marketing and communications, digital, participation and growth, facilities, stakeholder engagement, and risk management

• Demonstrated board or senior governance experience, ideally within sport, not-for-profit or member-based organisations

• Specific expertise in one or more of: finance, legal, risk, marketing/communications, participation and growth, digital, facilities, or sport administration

Board Directors are appointed based on skills and experience rather than club or organisational representation, consistent with contemporary sport governance standards.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated board or senior governance experience, ideally within sport, not-for-profit or member-based organisations

• Specific expertise in one or more of: finance, legal, risk, marketing/communications, participation and growth, digital, facilities, or sport administration

• A collaborative, values-led approach and genuine commitment to the future of Brisbane hockey
