📖 Volunteer Reader & Companion Wanted
Make a meaningful difference, one conversation at a time ❤️
We are looking for a kind, caring volunteer to spend one-on-one time with a resident through the ACVVS program.
The role is simple, but the impact can be wonderful. You could spend time:
- 📚 Reading novels, magazines, newspapers or other books together
- ✝️ Reading the Bible or other faith-based material, if the resident wishes
- ☕ Having a friendly chat and sharing stories
- 🎶 Listening to music or talking about favourite memories
- 💕 Providing companionship and a friendly face to look forward to
No special qualifications are needed — just patience, kindness, good listening skills and a genuine desire to connect with another person.
For someone who may spend much of their day alone, having a regular visitor can bring friendship, conversation, comfort and joy.
Could you spare some time to make someone’s day brighter?
If you enjoy reading, conversation and connecting with people, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer through the ACVVS program and help make a real difference in a resident’s life.
Why Volunteer?
Many elderly Australians in aged care homes face loneliness and social isolation. By volunteering just one hour a fortnight, you can make a significant difference in someone's life.
You'll be matched one-on-one with a resident who could greatly benefit from your friendship, companionship and regular presence. Having a familiar person to look forward to seeing and sharing conversation with can make a wonderful difference.
