🙏🏽Make a Difference in the Life of an Elderly Resident ✝ ACVVS Toowoomba
St Vincent's Health Australia supported by Volunteering Queensland

Share faith, conversation and meaningful moments ❤️
We are looking for a kind, compassionate volunteer to spend one-on-one time with a resident through the ACVVS program, with an interest in forming a meaningful faith-based connection.
This could be a lovely opportunity for someone who enjoys sharing their faith and would appreciate quiet, meaningful companionship.
Visits might include:
- 📖 Reading the Bible or other Christian books together
- 🙏 Sharing prayer or quiet reflection
- ✝️ Talking about faith, spirituality and life's journey
- 💬 Enjoying gentle conversation and reminiscing
- 🎶 Listening to hymns or favourite religious music
- ☕ Simply spending time together and enjoying each other's company
You don't need to be a theologian or have any special qualifications. What matters most is being warm, respectful, patient and comfortable sharing in conversations about faith.
A regular visit from a caring person can provide something truly special — friendship, connection, spiritual companionship and a familiar face to look forward to.
Could you share some time, faith and friendship?
If you feel you could build a meaningful connection with someone through faith, conversation and companionship, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer through the ACVVS program and help bring comfort, connection and joy to a resident’s day.
Why Volunteer?
Many elderly Australians in aged care homes face loneliness and social isolation. By volunteering just one hour a fortnight, you can make a significant difference in someone's life.
You'll be matched one-on-one with a resident who could greatly benefit from your friendship, companionship and regular presence.
Program Details:
- Dedication: Our special volunteers are people who are willing and able to visit their new friend at least 20 times or more over a twelve-month period
- Requirements: Must be over 18 years old, pass a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check (NCCHC) (we will provide assistance, and cover any associated costs) and be available to visit consistently.
Ideal Volunteers:
- Exhibit care and compassion for the elderly
- Are comfortable and patient when spending time with people living with dementia
- Have excellent communication and listening skills
- Enjoy conversation and are interested in learning about other people's lives
- Are committed and punctual
What You’ll Gain:
- The chance to form a long-lasting, meaningful friendship
- Be part of a friendly team with a strong community spirit
- Experience the joy of enriching the life of someone who may otherwise experience loneliness
- The opportunity to share stories, interests and experiences with a wonderful older person
