Fostering orphaned kittens (in Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat areas)

Tiny Kits Rescue

Caring for kittens who are without their mother, your role will vary from raising bottle babies to adoption ready kits. Everyone starts with adoption ready kits, to build skills and experiences.

Our small group of foster carers take kittens into their home, feed, clean, prepare for adoption, take to the vets, do health checks, complete observation records and communicate with the foster care coordinator.

Kittens need to be taken to the vets for 3 vaccinations (a month between each), desexing, microchipping and health care needs. We supply food, litter, vet care, support and equipment to all our carers.

Time commitment is: (raising kittens to adoption)

  • Bottle babies usually need 2-4 hourly formula feeds, daily until they are weaned. (2-4 weeks)
  • Weanies usually need 4 hourly feeds, sometimes with formula as they learn to eat solids. (2-6 weeks)
  • Adoption ready kittens are close to being desexed or already are. Up for adoption, they can take anywhere from 1 week to 12 weeks to find a loving home.

We do not have a shelter/facility that can house kittens, the number of kittens we have depends on the foster homes we have available. If you are going away, with adequate notice, we can accommodate respite fostering with another carer.

If you have space, some time and are willing to learn we want to hear from you.
