Get Around Caboolture is looking for university students to join MOSAIC, a collaborative project exploring how we can better understand and respond to transport problems in suburban and outer suburban communities. You will work with other students and community members to investigate a real problem where the answer isn't already known.

What you'll be involved in
Depending on your skills and interests, your work may include:
- researching a transport or planning problem
- looking at relevant planning, transport and government policy
- examining how other communities have approached similar problems
- understanding the experiences of people affected by the problem
- analysing information, evidence and available data
- identifying the factors that make the problem difficult to solve
- developing and comparing possible responses
- helping communicate findings to people outside the university
The emphasis is on understanding the problem before deciding on a response. You will have the opportunity to contribute to work that is connected to real transport and planning issues in the Moreton Bay Qld region.
Who we're looking for
We'd particularly like to hear from students studying:
- Urban and regional planning
- Transport planning or transport engineering
- Urban design or urbanism
- Geography
- Civil engineering
- Public policy
- Political science
- Community engagement or community development
- Architecture
- Other related disciplines
You don't need previous professional experience in transport.
We're interested in students who are curious, willing to ask questions and comfortable working with problems that don't have straightforward answers.

About MOSAIC
MOSAIC is being developed by Get Around Caboolture as a framework for bringing together community knowledge, research and practical problem solving. The focus is transport in suburban and outer suburban communities, where the circumstances can be very different from those of inner-city areas.
We are interested in questions such as:
- How do we understand a transport problem properly?
- What gets in the way of possible solutions?
- And what could realistically be done?
Commitment
This is an unpaid volunteer position suitable for university students. The project is designed to accommodate university study. The time commitment can be discussed according to your availability and the project work involved and will largely be undertaken during the Christmas holiday period.
Organisation
Get Around Caboolture is a community organisation advocating for more transport choice in outer suburban communities.
