Could you spare just one hour a week to brighten the life of an older person in Umina Beach? We are looking for kind male and female volunteer visitors who can offer friendly conversation, companionship and a caring presence to someone who may be feeling lonely or isolated.

Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors is seeking compassionate male and female volunteers to visit an older person in the Umina Beach area for around one hour each week or fortnight.

For many older people, a regular visit can become the most meaningful part of their week. Your smile, your listening ear and your willingness to sit and share time can bring warmth, dignity and a beautiful sense of connection.

You might enjoy a cuppa together, talk about family, music, gardening, sport or local memories, do a puzzle, read, watch a favourite program or simply be present. It is not about doing something big, it is about showing someone they are remembered, valued and not alone.

Requirements

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Visit for at least 1 hour per week or fortnight
  • Commitment for 12 months
  • Complete an interview, referee checks and a National Criminal History Check

What You’ll Do

  • Visit an older person regularly (usually once a week or fortnight)
  • Provide companionship through conversation and shared interests
  • Help enhance their sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing
  • Build a genuine, rewarding connection

No experience needed

Wesley Mission will provide training, support, and ongoing guidance every step of the way.
