The Gift of Showing Up

For many older people living in residential aged care, it's not the big events that matter most. It's knowing that someone is thinking of them and looking forward to spending time together.
Through Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors, you can spend just one hour a week building a genuine friendship with an older person who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
You will be thoughtfully matched with someone who shares similar interests, hobbies or life experiences. Over time, regular visits can create a meaningful connection built on trust, companionship and shared experiences.
Whether you're chatting over a cup of tea, sharing stories, discussing local events or simply enjoying each other's company, your visits can become an important part of someone's routine and something they genuinely look forward to.
Friendship grows when someone takes the time to show up.
We're looking for kind, reliable volunteers who can commit to regular visits and enjoy getting to know someone over time. No special skills or experience are required. Just a willingness to listen, share stories and be a friendly face.
As a Wesley volunteer, you'll receive:
- Ongoing support from your Wesley Volunteer Coordinator
- A carefully considered match with an older person
- Training and guidance to help you get started
- Invitations to volunteer recognition and celebration events
If you can spare an hour a week, or an hour a fortnight, we'd love to hear from you.
Sometimes the greatest gift is knowing someone will be back.
Become a friendly face they look forward to seeing.
