Festival Volunteer - Global Grooves

Want to see what goes into running a major community event?

As a Festivals Volunteer, you'll work alongside Mackay Regional Council's Festivals Team to help deliver Global Grooves, one of Mackay's most vibrant and culturally diverse community celebrations. Global Grooves brings together live performances, interactive workshops, cultural experiences, market stalls and food from around the world, creating an exciting festival atmosphere for the Mackay community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in festivals, events, community engagement or gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced event environment. Whether you're looking to build your resume, develop new skills, meet new people or explore a future career in events, this role offers valuable real-world experience while making a positive contribution to the community.

As a Festivals Volunteer, you may assist with:

• Event setup (bump in) and pack down (bump out)
• Ticket scanning and wristband distribution
• Welcoming attendees and providing event information
• Distributing promotional materials
• Supporting community workshops and activities
• Assisting festival-goers with directions and general enquiries
• Helping create a safe, friendly and inclusive experience for all attendees

You'll gain experience working as part of a professional events team, develop customer service and communication skills, build confidence in a public-facing role and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to deliver a successful community festival.
