Caring for Country - Garden & Grounds Volunteer

As a Caring for Country Volunteer, you'll work alongside the Cultural Ranger, Elders, staff, and fellow volunteers to help care for the Centre's gardens, landscapes, and natural spaces. Through hands-on activities such as planting, weeding, mulching, seed collection, habitat improvement, and general garden maintenance, you'll contribute to a welcoming, vibrant, and culturally significant place for community and visitors alike.
This is more than a gardening role. It's an opportunity to learn about First Nations culture, native plants, and the importance of caring for land, waters, plants, and wildlife while helping to protect local biodiversity and strengthen connections between people, place, and nature.

Responsibilities *Assist with planting and maintaining gardens, native vegetation, and habitat areas *Support weed removal, mulching, rubbish collection, and general grounds maintenance *Help keep outdoor spaces safe, welcoming, and well-presented for visitors
We're Looking for People Who Are *Passionate about the environment, community, and Caring for Country *Respectful of First Nations culture, knowledge, and traditions *Friendly, reliable, and willing to work as part of a team *Interested in learning new skills and sharing in cultural experiences *Comfortable undertaking light outdoor gardening and grounds maintenance activities
Requirements and Conditions *Satisfactory Checks, and completion of Volunteer Induction and required training *Ability to follow safety procedures and staff direction
