Cancer Council WA works in partnership with hospitals, hospices and cancer centres, to operate a Guide and Support Program that supports visitors and provides information about Cancer Council’s programs and services.
The program is offered within key hospitals and GenesisCare locations across WA including Perth Metro, Albany, Joondalup and Mandurah, where patients are receiving cancer treatment.
We are currently seeking a Guide and Support volunteer at Peel Health Campus. The Role
- Welcome and engage with patients, carers, families and visitors to identify their information, support and wayfinding needs.
- Provide information and directions about the Centre, including an overview of facilities, programs and services.
- Proactively approach visitors and offer assistance, information and relevant Cancer Council WA resources from the publications display.
- Encourage patients, carers and families to contact 131120 to access the full range of Cancer Council WA supportive services available.
Requirements
- Volunteer National Police Clearance.
- Use a sensitive and compassionate approach, recognising the impact of a cancer diagnosis.
- Maintaining appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA.
- Respect for diversity.
- Positive attitude to the workplace.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
