Responsible Cafes is a volunteer organisation and an online community group supporting cafes with sustainability and waste reduction. As part of the work we do:

  • We offer a free accreditation for cafes trying their best to reduce their impact on the environment and highlight their great work on the Responsible Cafes map.
  • We support cafes face-to-face via our award winning program.
  • We inspire cafes and keen beans to try their best to reduce waste and onboard reusables.
  • We run advocacy campaigns to encourage BYO and reusables (BYO and SAVE, BYO Friday)

As part of the team, you will be part of our online community coordinators and have some responsibilities:

  1. (re)Engaging our @responsiblecafes community on Instagram and Facebook :
  • Creating connexions and relationships with our audience
  • Being involved in the community and engage on relevant posts
  • Sharing relevant information in stories
  • Being familiar with the various content available on our website and send relevant links and information to our community (in DMs, or comments)
  • Tag relevant community partners, cafes, people to generate engagement and drive conversations
  1. Creating educational/engaging content on @responsiblecafes Instagram and Facebook. For example:
    "How to get your community onboard with reusables"
    "3 easy steps to launch a mug library"
    "How to stop generating waste as a cafe owner"
    "Biodegradable vs Compostable: what's best?"
    Featuring new Responsible Cafes on the map

Software experience required:
Proficient in using Canva, Edits, Facebook and Instagram. Notion and Capcut good but not mandatory

About you:

  • You are available ~10 hours per week
  • You have a passion for social media and experience creating and fostering an online community
  • You have a bubbly, enthusiastic and creative personality
  • You want to learn
  • You love to film, take photos and create short video content (stories, reel)
  • You can create nicely designed posts and presentations and have a good eye for design and working within our style guide
  • You are motivated by the mission to lead the change and inspire others do their best
  • You are responsible, organised, on time and have an attention to details
  • You can work in a team environment and remotely. You are flexible and independent
  • You have great copywriting, marketing, communication skills
  • You are motivated to work in a social enterprise environment where you’ll be learning, have responsibilities and juggle multiple things

This is a great opportunity to be part of a fun team who want to make a positive change and get some good experience. Previous volunteers have gone on to do amazing things! We can’t wait to hear from you – send us a vid if you fancy it.

Successful applicants will be asked to do a small assignment and create a post or reel. We are happy to sign an internship agreement with your University for credits.

We offer a volunteering allowance of $100 per week.
