Community Outreach Volunteer — Connect Outdoors: Frankston
Over four weeks away
Role Purpose
As our Community Outreach Volunteer, you will help spread the word about Play Outdoors: Camp Connect Experience — a free, inclusive outdoor community event for LGBTQIA+ adults in Frankston — ensuring it reaches the people who would benefit most.
Your outreach work directly determines how many people show up and feel welcomed at the event. You will connect with local Frankston community organisations, neighbourhood houses, LGBTQIA+ networks, and online community groups to promote the event through flyers, social media posts and direct engagement.
This is a flexible, largely remote role that can be done in your own time — making it ideal for someone passionate about LGBTQIA+ inclusion who wants to make a real difference without a large time commitment.
What You’ll Do
- Distribute event flyers to local Frankston community organisations, neighbourhood houses and LGBTQIA+ networks
- Post about the event in local Frankston Facebook groups and online community forums
- Share event details with your own networks where relevant
- Report back on outreach activities and reach achieved
- Liaise with the Event Lead to ensure messaging is consistent and on-brand
What You’ll Bring
- Strong communication skills — written and verbal
- Familiarity with social media platforms particularly Facebook and Instagram
- Knowledge of the Frankston area and local community networks — preferred but not essential
- Comfort engaging with LGBTQIA+ community members as a member or ally
- Reliability and self-motivation to work independently
- Based in or near Frankston strongly preferred
What You’ll Get Out of It
- Real-world community engagement and marketing experience
- A letter of participation from Oot & Aboot for your portfolio or resume
- Coverage under Oot & Aboot's Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance
- The satisfaction of helping LGBTQIA+ people in Frankston find their community outdoors
- Flexible remote volunteering that fits around your schedule
Reporting Line
- Reports to the Event Lead on the day
