Logo for The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre Co-operative

The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre is an environmental charity with strong outreach into the social sector, and has been at the forefront of the circular economy and community reuse and repair culture for over two decades.

The Bower’s mission is to champion the circular economy through the repair, reuse and redistribution of goods within the community. By integrating front line service delivery with retail and education programs, the Bower enables household items to be redirected from the waste stream into a longer useful life. This includes outfitting accommodation newly occupied by refugees, survivors of domestic violence, and those transitioning from homelessness.

We maximise our environmental, social, and cultural impacts through strong partnerships with councils and front-line service delivery agencies, and we continue to build a passionate community engaged in the circular economy through our reuse and repair workshops, retail outlets, and volunteering opportunities.

We are looking for two new board members and are particularly interested in meeting applicants who have expertise in one or more of:

  • Circular economy sector
  • Charitable fundraising and donor engagement
  • Partnering with front line social service agencies
  • Retail strategy and operations

All board members are expected to:

  • Attend all Board meetings (minimum 6 a year)
  • Keep abreast of developments at the Bower and engage with correspondence between meetings
  • Participate in Board committees, particularly where aligned with their skills and experience

In your application please include your CV and a cover letter that explains why you are interested in volunteering on the board of the Bower, and how you would bring your skills and experience to the role.
