Plant protectors: Help to install tree guards in Athelstone, SA (Thurs Oct 8)

Conservation Volunteers Australia and Campbelltown City Council had a busy planting season at Athelstone Recreational Reserve in Athelstone this year! We planted thousands of native seedlings which are now happily growing at the site.

Now it’s time to give them the best shot at survival by building and installing the final plant guards to protect them through their first summer. This will support our plants to grow to their full potential and create a beautiful urban forest.

What will I be doing on the day?
All of our events begin with a safety induction and training from a CVA Team Leader.

As part of the day, you will work under the supervision of our friendly team to help construct cardboard plant guards and install them over our newly planted seedlings using a hammer/mallet.

What skills or experience do I need?
No prior experience is necessary! Our Team Leaders will provide volunteers with safety inductions and training in the activity.

Our events are suitable for most age groups (ages 15 - 85). As part of the day, we will be using heavy hammers, so this event is not suitable for children under 15.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:

• Once you send through your application via Seek, we will be in touch with registration details. Spaces are limited, and they do fill up!
• No previous experience is required. We will provide you with all the know-how on site.
• You need to make your own way to and from the project site.
• We can provide you with a certificate of appreciation for coming along and helping out (this looks great on a resume!)
