Fundraising and Grants Officer (Volunteer)

HUSH FOUNDATION

About Hush Foundation

The Hush Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation transforming healthcare and aged care through music and the arts. Founded 25 years ago by Professor Catherine Crock AM, what began as a project commissioning Australian composers to create calming music for hospital wards has grown into a broader movement to build safer, kinder healthcare cultures for patients, families, and healthcare professionals alike. This work includes programs such as original commissioned music (played over 10 million times on Spotify), the Health Plays theatrical series, and Kindness in Action, an action learning and reflection program for healthcare and aged care organisations. Each year Hush also leads Gathering of Kindness, an international event held around World Kindness Day.

With DGR1 charity status, Hush is in an exciting growth phase, building its philanthropic income through grants, corporate sponsorship, and giving campaigns — including a major music event planned for early 2027. This is a pivotal time to join Hush and help shape its fundraising future.

As we grow, so does our need for the funding that keeps these programs running — which is where you come in.

About the Role

Hush Foundation is looking for a Fundraising and Grants Officer to help us grow the funding that powers our work. This is a remote, flexible volunteer role — a great fit for someone who enjoys research and writing and wants to see the direct impact of their work on our mission.

While experience in grant writing or fundraising is preferred, we're really looking for genuine interest in this area. If you're keen to build your skills in the sector and contribute to a meaningful cause, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Researching and identifying relevant grants and funding opportunities
  • Writing and preparing compelling grant applications and proposals
  • Collaborating with the team to gather impact stories, data, and program insights
  • Tracking submissions and supporting reporting requirements, including keeping a grants calendar up-to-date
  • Managing content updates for grant-related materials

What We're Looking For

  • Genuine interest in grant writing, fundraising, or the not-for-profit sector — this is essential
  • Strong written communication skills, with an eye for detail
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating with a team online
  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or communications is preferred but not essential

What You'll Gain

  • Flexible, remote volunteering that fits around your schedule — around a day a week
  • Hands-on experience in grant writing and fundraising strategy
  • The opportunity to directly contribute to funding that supports Hush Foundation's mission
  • A supportive team environment to develop new skills
