Volunteer Handyperson/Gardener
Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre Inc supported by Volunteering Queensland

We are looking for a volunteer who has a few hours a week to help with general maintenance, gardening (mowing, clearing footpaths etc) and handyman duties. Those with relevant trade background or enjoy undertaking general gardening, repairs and maintenance are encouraged to apply, but this is not compulsory.
This unpaid role suits people with practical DIY/Gardening skills who would like to support our Neighbourhood Centre.
Role Overview

Position Title: Volunteer Maintenance Handyperson

Purpose: Provide general property upkeep, keeping the facility clean and tidy, and support for facility safety.

Location: Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre, Sherwood

Key Duties
-
Mowing of grass, weeding, pruning, garden bed maintenance, keeping footpaths clear and hazard free, maintaining outdoor areas in general.

Handle basic maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs, window cleaning, small repair jobs, internal and external building wall cleaning.

Help set up rooms, furniture, or equipment for community events and meetings.

Rubbish removal

Reporting maintenance issues or safety hazards to staff.
Skills and Requirements
- Open Manual Driver’s License
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and general repair work.
- Ability to work safely and follow health and safety guidelines.
- Physical fitness to stand, bend, and lift moderate loads.
- Good communication skills and a helpful attitude.
- Ability to obtain a Qld Working With Children Check.
