Dementia Australia is the national peak body for people, of all ages, living with all forms of dementia, their families and carers. We provide advocacy, support services, education and information.
Dementia Australia's Devonport Carers Support Group supports carers of people living with dementia in their caring role. The group meets monthly and our Counsellor provides a safe and empowering space for carers to share their experiences of caring and seek support.
We are looking for a volunteer to support this group, to assist with the warm welcome of the carers and support our Counsellor to be attentive to their needs during the session. Our Volunteer also provides practical support with light set/pack up and serving refreshments.
If you have the following approach and experience, it would be wonderful to hear from you:
- a warm, welcoming, non-judgemental approach and genuine interest in others
- happy to help with practical tasks such as set up, guest registration, and serving refreshments.
- the experience of supporting someone living with dementia, or having been in a family caring role, desirable but not essential.
Volunteers will be required to:
- undergo an interview
- reference and police checks (at Dementia Australia's cost).
- participate in induction and orientation sessions
- complete eLearning training
- commit to volunteering for at least 12 months
Morning tea is provided.
Free car parking is available.
