This volunteer opportunity will help to Support a Youth Consultant to develop engaging social media content about the findings of a disability employment research project
The purpose of the role is to support a Youth Consultant to develop social media content that will help to communicate the findings of a recent research project about disability employment.
The audience for the content is young people thinking about joining our disability employment support program, Project SEARCH, as well as young people already engaged in Project SEARCH.
The Youth Consultant is a former client of the program and played key role in the research as a lived experience advisor. The Youth Consultant is experienced with social media creation and is an inspiring speaker, but needs help to manage the production process, complete tasks and meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate for this role is:

Approachable, organised, good with time management, a good listener, respectful towards people with disability/neurodiversity, and passionate about advocacy, inclusion and social justice.

This role would be suitable for a student with interest and experience in social media, communication and story-telling.

Some experience of working with people with a disability/neurodiversity would be beneficial but is not essential if the person has the right values and a willingness to learn.

Willingness to work alongside the Youth Consultant using an empowerment framework, rather than taking over the project.

Skills and experience important for this role include:
Essential:

Experience with content creation and storytelling

Familiarity with social media tools (primarily Tik Tok, but other platforms too)

Good planning skills with an ability to develop clear goals and understand the tasks needed to achieve goals

Project management skills to keep content production tasks on track and meet deadlines

A passion for advocacy, inclusion and social justice
Desirable:

Understanding of accessibility needs and features, including plain English, captions and transcripts

Experience working with people with a disability or neurodiversity
