Selection criteria for Directors
- Sound understanding of governance (governance qualification and experience highly regarded)
- Independence (capacity to bring an objective perspective, free from actual or perceived conflicts of interest)
- Understanding of abuse and mistreatment of older people
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Preparedness and capacity to dedicate the time required to support Advocare as a Board Director
Previous experience in governance in not-for-profit organisations will be highly regarded, as would applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Expertise in any of the following areas would be an advantage:
- Knowledge of not-for-profit / community services sector
- Marketing / Communications
- Fundraising
- ICT / cybersecurity
- Legal qualification or experience
