The Opportunity

We are seeking passionate, skilled, and community-minded individuals to join our Committee of Management. As a committee member, you will help guide BREAZE's strategic direction, ensure sound governance, and champion inclusive community action on climate and energy. This is a voluntary role with a genuine opportunity to make a lasting difference in the Ballarat region.

What We're Looking For

We're committed to building a committee that reflects the diversity of the Ballarat community we serve. If you're excited about clean energy but aren't sure you tick every box below, we'd still love to hear from you.

We welcome applications from people with skills and experience in any of the following areas:

● Renewable energy, sustainability, or environmental science

● Finance, accounting, or legal practice

● Community engagement, advocacy, or social inclusion

● Governance, risk management, or nonprofit leadership

● Communications, marketing, or stakeholder relations

● Technology, engineering, or project management

● Local government, policy, or public administration

We warmly encourage applications from First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, LGBTIQA+ people, and people of all ages and life stages.

General duties of Committee Members:

  • Be familiar with Breaze Rules of Incorporation (the Rules) and the Incorporated Associations Act (the Act) and act according to them.
  • Undertake your duties with reasonable care and diligence, in good faith and in the best interests of the Association
  • Not to improperly use the position, or information acquired in the position, to gain an advantage for themselves or any other person or to cause detriment to the Association.
  • Perform any other duties imposed from time to time by resolution at a general meeting.

Specific role statements are in place for office holders

All Committee members are expected to bring:

● A genuine commitment to BREAZE's mission and our community's clean energy future

● Willingness to act in the best interests of the organisation and the people it serves

● Capacity to attend regular Committee meetings and contribute to occasional working groups

● Respect for diverse perspectives and inclusive decision-making

 What to Expect

Committee meetings: Approximately four per year, held in Ballarat with hybrid options available

Annual General Meeting: Held in October/November each year

Term: Two years, with eligibility for re-election

Remuneration: This is a voluntary, unpaid position

Expenses — expenses are only reimbursed when approved by the Committee and associated with program delivery or training

Induction: “New ways of Working”**** ongoing governance support provided and online training options
