
The Coniston Hub is seeking reliable and community-minded volunteers to assist with the preparation and packing of food for distribution for individuals, families, and people experiencing homelessness who access our food relief service.
Volunteers play an important role in ensuring donated and delivered food is sorted, organised, and packed into bags ready for distribution to community members in need. This role supports the smooth operation of the hub and helps ensure food is provided safely, consistently, and with dignity.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with setting up the food packing area each morning.

Receive and unload food deliveries when required.

Sort food items into categories such as fresh produce, pantry items, frozen goods, and household essentials.

Pack food hampers in accordance with hub guidelines and available stock.

Ensure food bags are prepared and ready prior to distribution times.

Monitor food quality and report any damaged or unsuitable items.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.

Assist with packing up and cleaning the area at the completion of food preparation activities.
Time Commitment
- Morning shifts available Monday to Friday.
- Flexible volunteer opportunities available.
- Regular commitment preferred to support continuity of service delivery.
- Opportunities available for individuals, students, community groups, and corporate volunteer teams.
