Help shape the future of community services for people who need it most on the Yorke Peninsula and in the Mid North
Care in Motion supports thousands of people each year to stay independent, connected and active in their communities, through our Community Transport Service and Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. For people across the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North who would otherwise be isolated by distance, age or disability, that support makes the difference between staying part of their community and being cut off from it. That is the work our Committee exists to protect and grow. We are looking for people who want to bring their skills to that purpose.
Who we are
Care in Motion has been helping people in their communities since 1999. Today we run a fleet of vehicles across the Yorke and Mid-North of South Australia, supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who understand that this is about far more than logistics. We also operate our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme across this region as we endeavour to prevent social isolation and have them actively engaged in their communities. It is about dignity, independence and staying part of a community.
Our vision is to be a caring, reliable and respected service, recognised nationally for best practice, compassion and impact, and we hold ourselves to that standard in how we govern, not just how we deliver services on the road.
Why now is a good time to join
Care in Motion has grown over the past few years. Our focus now is on consolidating that growth, strengthening our foundations, tightening our systems, and making sure the organisation is built to last well beyond any one funding cycle or contract. Committee members joining at this point will help make that staying power real, not just watch it happen.
A number of our current Committee members' terms come up for renewal over the next year, so there is genuine room for new voices and new skills at the table.
What the role involves
- Setting strategic direction and holding the organisation to account against it.
- Overseeing governance, risk and financial sustainability, working closely with our CEO and staff.
- Bringing an outside perspective to decisions that affect real people's ability to get to medical appointments, see family, and stay connected.
- Attending Committee meetings roughly every two months, with some contribution in between.
- Being an advocate for Care in Motion with funders, partners and the community.

We'd also like to create some depth in some exisitng skills so applicants with expertise in Governmenr advocacy, marketing & communtiy engagement, and the health & disability sectors are encouraged to apply.
We also welcome people who bring lived experience of what it means to be transport disadvantaged and socially isolated, whether as an older person, a person with disability, or someone caring for either. That perspective belongs at the table, not just in the client feedback file.
