rDNA Monitoring Committee member

The ANU rDNA Monitoring Committee functions as the University's IBC. The role of the Committee is to ensure, on behalf of the University, that all proposed activities involving GMOs meet the requirements of the Gene Technology Act (2000), associated Regulations, guidelines and local policies prior to approval.
The rDNA Monitoring Committee is comprised of members with skills and technical experience in immunology, parasitology, biological safety, microbiology, molecular biology/genetics and plant biology, and an external member.

The Research Ethics Office is seeking expressions of interest for an external committee member.
Eligibility is determined by being reasonably regarded as being free of any business or other relationship, including a relationship of employment, with the University that could materially interfere with the exercise of unfettered and independent judgement in contributing to decisions made by the rDNA Committee.
#About the Role
Regular Tasks
online review of applications for Notifiable Low Risk Dealings (NLRDs), Exempt Dealings and Dealings Not Involving Release (DNIRs), Standard Operating Procedure documents for facility management and consultation papers from OGTR. Read, assess, and provide written feedback within the Research Ethics Management System (REMS) for collation by the deadline.
Annual Tasks - Inspections of PC2 Facilities (July-August), in-person attendance at one meeting (scheduled October/November).
Time - approximately 20 reviews per year.
Appointment - an initial term of six months, which will be reviewed for potential extension for a further three years. Appointments and renewals are subject to the approval of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
Training - induction session (1 hour) through the ANU Ethics Office and completion of two online modules (2 hours total). Ongoing training provided as required.
Remuneration - volunteer members (external to ANU) will receive a thank you payment. This payment is processed annually and is not superannuable.
