About All Together Thriving

All Together Thriving (ATT) is a community charity helping people feel less alone through connection, wellbeing and practical support. We run wellbeing programs for special needs children and cancer survivors through our Healthy Happy Friends and Move Cancer Out of This Town programs.

About the role

We're looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to help us connect with local councils and special needs schools across Sydney, so more families can find and benefit from what we offer. No previous experience is required, but it may help — what matters most is that you're comfortable talking to people and passionate about your local community.

Where we need help

We're particularly seeking volunteers who live in, or have strong connections with, these council areas:

  • Willoughby
  • Lane Cove
  • Inner West
  • Northern Beaches

What you would do

Connecting with local councils

  • Identifying and responding to relevant council grant opportunities
  • Helping ATT engage with council staff and community programs
  • Representing ATT at council and community events
  • Attending local events such as street fairs and community festivals

Building relationships with special needs schools

  • Contacting and meeting with special needs schools
  • Introducing schools to ATT and our programs
  • Understanding the needs of the schools, the children they support, and their families
  • Exploring whether ATT programs could be suitable for their students
  • Helping develop ongoing relationships with schools and education communities

Growing our community presence

  • Raising awareness of ATT within local communities
  • Identifying opportunities for ATT to participate in community initiatives
  • Helping us establish relationships with organisations that share our commitment to supporting special needs children and cancer survivors

Who we are looking for

You don't need to be a professional grant writer, educator or disability specialist. We're looking for people who are:

  • Friendly, confident and comfortable talking to people
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in their local community
  • Good communicators and relationship builders
  • Comfortable approaching councils, schools and community organisations
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Well connected within their local community, or keen to build those connections
  • Ideally located within, or familiar with, Willoughby, Lane Cove, Inner West or Northern Beaches

Experience in community engagement, business development, education, disability services, fundraising, grant applications, sales or local government would be valuable, but isn't essential.

Why volunteer with ATT

This is an opportunity to do more than simply volunteer your time. You'll help open doors for special needs children and cancer survivors who may benefit from ATT's programs, while building relationships with local councils, schools and communities.

You'll also represent a growing organisation, develop your community engagement and relationship-building skills, and see the direct impact of your contribution.

Time commitment

The commitment is flexible, and we'll work with you to find a level of involvement that suits your availability and interests.

Diversity and inclusion

We welcome diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We value lived experience, empathy, integrity and a community-centred approach.

To apply

Apply through this listing with a short note telling us which council area you're based in or connected to, and why this role interests you. A CV or LinkedIn profile is welcome but not essential.
