Seeking an experienced Volunteer Coordinator / People & Culture professional to join our organisation in a key volunteer leadership capacity.

This role we are looking for someone who is committed for 6 months or more at an estimated 6 to 10 hours per week but we are happy to adjust this as we progress

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of our volunteer and people processes across the organisation, helping us establish a professional, consistent and supportive framework as our charity continues to develop and grow.

This opportunity would suit someone with substantial experience in Human Resources, People & Culture, volunteer management, recruitment, workforce coordination or a related field, who is confident working independently and establishing processes from the ground up.

About the Role

Working closely with the President and Management Committee, the Volunteer Coordinator / People & Culture Volunteer will help develop and oversee the volunteer journey across our Organisation — from recruitment and screening through to onboarding, engagement, support and volunteer exits.

The successful person will have the experience and confidence to take responsibility for this area with a high level of independence, while keeping the Management Committee appropriately informed.

Key Responsibilities

The role may include:

Developing and managing our organisation-wide volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes.

Coordinating volunteer applications, interviews, screening and reference checks.

Ensuring required documentation, with a tight vetting system our organisation has in place including identification and National Police Checks are obtained where applicable.

Developing position descriptions, onboarding information, volunteer agreements and supporting documentation.

Establishing consistent and fair recruitment and selection practices.

Maintaining appropriate volunteer records and documentation.

Coordinating volunteer inductions and orientation.

Supporting volunteers throughout their involvement with the organisation.

Helping establish clear role expectations, communication processes and boundaries.

Supporting volunteer engagement, retention, recognition and wellbeing.

Developing practical People & Culture policies, procedures and processes appropriate for a not-for-profit charity.

Supporting succession planning and identifying future volunteer workforce needs.

Providing appropriate People & Culture guidance to the President and Management Committee.

Helping create a positive, inclusive, respectful and supportive volunteer culture.

We are ideally seeking someone who has:

Essential / Highly Desirable

Substantial experience in Human Resources, People & Culture, volunteer management, recruitment or workforce coordination.

Demonstrated experience establishing and managing recruitment and onboarding processes.

Strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy and appropriate handling of sensitive information.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational and record-management skills.

Confidence working independently and taking ownership of a function.

Ability to develop practical policies, procedures and systems.

Sound professional judgement, integrity and discretion.

A fair, respectful and compassionate approach when working with people.

Ability to work collaboratively with organisational leadership while managing day-to-day People & Culture processes independently.

Experience within a charity, not-for-profit, community organisation or volunteer-based environment would be highly regarded.

Formal qualifications in Human Resources, People & Culture, Business, Volunteer Management or a related discipline would also be highly regarded.
