Fossung Multicultural and Education Services supported by Volunteering Queensland
Give two hours a week to help local students build confidence in their learning.
Fossung Multicultural and Education Services Inc. (FMAES) is a registered charity supporting multicultural and disadvantaged children, young people and families through education, youth and community programs.
We are seeking friendly and reliable volunteer tutors to join our Bright Futures Education Support Program at Greenbank Community Centre, supporting primary and secondary school students with literacy, numeracy and homework.
What you'll do
- Support students with reading, writing and literacy
- Assist with mathematics and numeracy
- Help students understand and complete homework and schoolwork
- Encourage positive study habits and build learning confidence
- Provide support based on your own strengths and subject areas
- Work alongside FMAES staff and other volunteers in a supportive small-group environment
Who we're looking for
- You don't need to be a qualified teacher. We welcome university students, education students, teachers, retired educators, professionals and community members who enjoy helping young people learn.
- We're looking for volunteers who are patient, encouraging, reliable and comfortable working with children and young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A valid Blue Card, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one, is required.
Why volunteer with FMAES?
- Your support can help students strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, understand their schoolwork and become more confident and independent learners.
- You'll also gain valuable practical experience working with children and young people in a community education setting. FMAES provides induction, learning resources and ongoing support.
