Volunteer Visitor – Social Outings & Companionship

Help someone reconnect with the social activities they love!
We’re looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to support a gentleman living in Salisbury Heights who would love to reconnect with the social outings and activities he has always enjoyed.
Having recently lost his driver’s licence, he is missing the opportunity to get out into the community and attend regular social activities in the Para Hills area. A volunteer companion could make a wonderful difference by helping him get there, sharing the experience with him and providing some friendly company along the way.
What would you be doing?
- Pick him up from his home in Salisbury Heights
- Transport him to and from a regular social activity in Para Hills
- Attend the activity with him and provide friendly companionship
- Enjoy conversation, connection and shared interests
- Help make the outing an enjoyable and positive experience
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, having a chat and helping someone remain connected to their community.
What we are looking for:
- Friendly, patient and a good conversationalist
- Reliable and committed to regular visits
- Comfortable supporting a person living with cognitive impairment
- A confident and safe driver with a current unrestricted driver’s licence and reliable, insured vehicle
- Willing to transport the gentleman to and from the activity and participate alongside him
- Able to obtain a police clearance prior to commencing the role
A police clearance is required before commencing this volunteer role, but don’t worry if you don’t already have one – we can assist you with the process.
No previous experience in aged care is required, what matters most is your willingness to spend time with someone and help them stay socially connected.
About the opportunity
This is a volunteer role with the Australian Community Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), The ACVVS is a free Australian Government initiative that matches volunteer visitors with older people experiencing social isolation.
If you have a few hours to spare and would enjoy helping someone get back to doing the things they love, we would love to hear from you!
