About the role

Reporting to the Community Fundraising Specialist the position of Event Day Volunteer will support the Illawarra Relay for Life.

This event takes place at the UOW Innovation Campus in North Wollongong from 8am to 10pm on the 19th of September 2026.

Key tasks of the position

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the following key taks:

Registrations: We will have a registration desk for participants to sign up on the day, and for existing participants to check in. The registration desk also provides information on the event and services that Cancer Council can provide. This will be available for all general public to access.

Activities: Activities such as craft, games and competitions take place throughout the day. Our volunteers run these to keep participants engaged and give them a fun break from walking the track.

Set-up, pack down and cleaning.

Personalities attending and guest speakers: Throughout the course of the day there may be VIP guests attend for a photo opportunity. Personalities include Cancer Council Management, Cancer Council Ambassadors, Parliament Members and Media Outlets.

About you

Excellent communication skills.

Reliable and punctual.

Provide excellent customer service when interacting with a diverse population.

Ability to work independently and undertake self-guided work.

Bring initiative and be a solution-oriented problem solver.
