English Language Group Facilitator

The English Language Group Facilitator will support the CAMS (Community Action for Multicultural Services) team in delivering key activities that contribute to MCCGC’s mission of empowering multicultural communities. This role focuses on leading the weekly Coffee, English & Friends sessions — a welcoming and inclusive group that brings together community members of all English proficiency levels. The facilitator will guide participants through basic to intermediate English learning activities in a relaxed, social environment, while fostering connection, confidence, and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver informal English learning activities suitable for mixed-level learners, focusing on practical communication skills. • Create a warm, inclusive, and respectful group atmosphere that encourages participation and cultural exchange. • Facilitate structured yet flexible sessions that encourage conversation, peer learning, and social connection. • Support participants in building confidence across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. • Collaborate with the CAMS team to ensure sessions reflect community needs and MCCGC’s values of diversity and empowerment.
Essential Skills & Attributes
• Has experience teaching or facilitating English as a Second Language (ESL/EAL). • Is patient, culturally sensitive, and enthusiastic about community engagement. • Can adapt content to suit a range of English levels and learning styles. • Is comfortable working independently while staying connected to the CAMS team • Enjoys working with diverse groups and creating a positive group dynamic.
