This role is ideal for someone with strong writing and communication skills who enjoys storytelling, media engagement, and creating positive community impact. You'll help develop media releases, identify media opportunities, and support communications that promote our advocacy, events, programs, and campaigns.
What You'll Do

- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and community publications.
- Monitor media opportunities and identify ways to promote our work.
- Assist with media responses and communication materials when required.
- Work closely with leadership to develop key messaging and public awareness campaigns.
- Help showcase community stories and organisational achievements in a professional and respectful manner.
- Support communication strategies that increase awareness, engagement, and advocacy outcomes.
- Assist with content creation for newsletters, website updates, and social media where appropriate.
The Impact You'll Have
Your contribution will help ensure the voices of IVF patients, donor-conceived people, solo mothers by choice, and families are heard across Australia. Effective media and communications play a vital role in driving awareness, influencing policy discussions, attracting supporters, and helping us reach those who need our services.
About You
- Strong written communication and editing skills.
- Ability to write engaging and professional media releases.
- Interest or experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or media.
- Confident communicating with a variety of stakeholders.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Understanding of social media and digital communications is beneficial.
- Experience in media, communications, public relations, journalism, or content writing is highly regarded but not essential.
- Aligned with our mission and passionate about creating positive social impact.
What You'll Gain
- Practical experience in media relations and communications within the not-for-profit sector.
- The opportunity to contribute to meaningful advocacy and community outcomes.
- Flexible, remote volunteering that fits around work, family, or study commitments.
- Professional references and recognition for your contribution.
- The opportunity to build a portfolio of media and communications work.
