Mentor Drivers for U-CAAN Drive
Advertised by Volunteering Tasmania
For more than 40 years, Bucaan Community House has brought people together through local programs, services and partnerships, creating a safe, supportive and connected community in Chigwell and surrounding areas.
BU-CAAN Drive is a Learner Driver Mentor Program (LDMP), known as U-CAAN Drive, is focussed on assisting disadvantaged learner drivers successfully obtaining their provisional licence. Our program provides the vehicle, an automatic car, and matches learner drivers with mentor drivers. Our learner drivers are required to have completed a minimum of 10 hours professional driving lessons and require mentoring support to attain the 80 hours of supervised driving required.
We rely on volunteers who are seeking to make a difference by sharing their driving experience and knowledge. A lasting difference can be made to some people in our community who cannot afford driving lessons or who are unable to access the support required to learn to drive a vehicle. This can restrict their ability to access employment, training or social opportunities, especially in areas where public transport is limited.
#Mentors are also offered: *Flexible days and times that fit in with your life
*An initial session with another mentor to become familiar with the vehicles and procedures.
*Training opportunities as they become available
*Ongoing support and guidance
*Employment Assistant Program (EAP)
