Be Someone’s Reason to Look Forward to their Weekly Shop
This volunteer role is more than a shopping trip — it’s connection, companionship and community.
How it works? Volunteers will drive a Council-accredited vehicle to and from the person’s home. You’ll visit the supermarket or shopping complex of the individual’s choice and provide practical support with food shopping i.e. pushing the trolley, helping with shopping bags (if required). You’ll also be a companion, friendly face and share in conversations.
Why join us? Make a lasting impact: provide practical support by helping the older person to remain independent and connected to their community while also enriching their days and reducing feelings of isolation. Foster meaningful and heartwarming connections, share stories, laughter and create memories together. A two-way street of happiness: it's not just about giving; our volunteers often find themselves enriched with wisdom and valuable life experiences from the person they meet.
