Volunteer Board Member - Intown Centre

InTown Centre Inc

Advertised by Volunteer South West Incorporated

InTown Centre is seeking community-minded people interested in joining our volunteer Board and helping guide the Centre through an important period of growth and development. You don't need previous Board experience. We are looking for people who care about our community, enjoy working collaboratively and are willing to actively contribute their knowledge, experience and perspective.

What you'll be doing:

As a Board member, you will work collaboratively with other Board members to provide governance, oversight and direction for InTown Centre. Depending on your interests, skills and experience, you may contribute to strategic planning, governance improvement, organisational development, fundraising and grant opportunities, community connections, projects and initiatives that support the ongoing development of the Centre. At this stage in InTown Centre's development, our Board is relatively hands-on. Board members may occasionally contribute practical assistance to help progress initiatives, while maintaining the Board's important governance and oversight responsibilities.

Why this matters:

InTown Centre provides meals, connection and support to people who may be experiencing homelessness, vulnerability or isolation, or who simply need somewhere they feel welcome. By joining the Board, you will help ensure the Centre is well governed, sustainable and able to continue responding to the needs of the Bunbury community. Your contribution will help shape both the future of InTown Centre and the way we support our community.

The best bit?

The opportunity to use what you know to make a genuine difference locally, while working alongside people who care about building a welcoming, sustainable and responsive community organisation. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to an important period of change and help shape what InTown Centre becomes next.

About you:

You don't need to be an expert in everything or have previous Board experience. We are looking for people who are curious, constructive, collaborative and willing to participate rather than simply hold a position. You may bring professional expertise, community knowledge, lived experience or simply a different perspective that adds value to the Board. Following a recent review of our Board's collective skills, we would particularly welcome people with knowledge or experience in cultural knowledge and perspectives, legal and compliance, grant funding, fundraising and sponsorship, or IT and cybersecurity. These skills are desirable rather than essential. Most importantly, you'll share a commitment to InTown Centre's purpose and be willing to contribute respectfully and constructively.
