你会说普通话吗?Volunteer and Brighten an Older Person’s Day

你会说普通话吗?
Do you speak Mandarin?
Could you spare a little time to brighten the week of an older person living in a residential care facility in Bexley?
We’re looking for a warm, friendly and compassionate Mandarin-speaking volunteer who enjoys conversation, connection and getting to know people.
For an older person, hearing a familiar language and being able to share stories about life, family and culture can mean so much. Sometimes, it’s simply having someone to talk to, laugh with and enjoy a cup of tea.
Your visits could include:
- Having a relaxed chat over tea or coffee
- Sharing stories and memories
- Listening to music
- Enjoying favourite hobbies and activities
- Simply spending quality time together
A regular visit once a week or fortnight can help an older person feel seen, valued and connected, while giving you the opportunity to build a meaningful friendship.
No previous volunteering experience is required. We’re looking for someone who is caring, friendly, respectful and reliable, with a willingness to listen and share their time.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and complete a National Police Check. You’ll receive induction, training and ongoing support from your Program Coordinator.
有時間、有愛心,就能帶來改變。
Have some time and a caring heart? You can make a difference.
If you speak Mandarin and would love to make a genuine difference through language, culture and companionship, we’d love to hear from you.
