Logo for Wheelchairs for Kids Australia Ltd

You don't need to be a logistics expert. Our wheelchairs will already have reached their destination country. We need someone who wants to know what happens next. You will build partner relationships, follow distributions to completion, help address problems and ensure stories of children receiving our wheelchairs make their way back to us.

It is a practical role with a very human outcome, connecting wheelchairs made in Wangara with the children and families they are made to help.

Purpose of the Role

  • The Volunteer, Distribution Partner Liaison links the arrival of a shipment with its successful distribution to children.
  • Once a shipment has arrived and cleared customs, partner liaison transitions from the Distribution Coordinator to this role.
  • The role maintains partner contact, follows distribution progress, understands how each partner operates and identifies where we can provide further assistance.
  • Working with the Communications Lead, the role will help obtain photographs, stories, case studies and feedback that demonstrate impact to volunteers, donors and supporters.

At its heart, this role helps us answer an important question: What happens after the wheelchairs arrive?

Please do not be put off by the following requirements. We are happy to discuss your skills and how the outcomes can be achieved.

  • Understand how each organisation identifies recipients, assesses children, distributes wheelchairs and provides fitting and follow-up.
  • Understand the communities partners serve and challenges they encounter.
  • Encourage two-way communication so partners can raise problems, questions and opportunities.
  • Identify ways we may better support partners and future distributions.

Training & Support

  • Identify whether partners, therapists, technicians or local teams need support or training in wheelchair assembly, fitting, adjustment or use.
  • Liaise with appropriate team members to help coordinate training or support.
  • Gather feedback that may improve training, distribution processes or wheelchair support.

Stories, Photographs & Impact

  • Work with the Communications Lead to identify stories, photographs and information needed from partners.
  • Encourage partners to provide recipient stories, case studies, photographs, testimonials and feedback.
  • Obtain enough background and context to accurately reflect the child, family, partner and distribution.
  • Ensure consent, privacy and safeguarding considerations are understood when information or images involving children are provided.
  • Help ensure valuable stories and feedback are captured before a distribution is closed.

  • Maintain an overview of active and recently completed distributions.
  • Provide updates on progress, outstanding information, partner feedback and issues requiring attention.
  • Help close the feedback loop between partners and our factory.
  • Share partner feedback, photographs and outcomes so volunteers can see the impact of their work.
