St Marks - Painting Activity Volunteer in Aged Care, Chermside

St Marks Residential Aged Care Community at Chermside is seeking creative and enthusiastic volunteers to help bring colour, connection and conversation to residents through fun and engaging painting sessions.
These experiences assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!
The Painting Activity Volunteer can help residents by:
- Supporting residents to express their creativity through enjoyable painting activities.
- Assisting residents with painting on canvas or paper using materials provided.
- Setting up the activity area ready for each session.
- Encouraging residents to participate and enjoy the activity.
- Providing guidance, conversation and support throughout the painting session.
- Helping clean and pack away materials after the activity.
- Assisting residents to return to their rooms following the session.
This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents with dementia. This role is especially suited to individuals who have experience with dementia or are willing to learn how to support and connect with residents living with dementia. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours are available every first Wednesday from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
This program is located within the St Marks Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.
Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
