About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Resilient CARE program is seeking a volunteer researcher to investigate how evacuation centres can better support people with disability, older people, and other community members who may require ongoing care during emergencies. This role will explore Australian and international examples of supported evacuation centres, care-integrated shelter models, and other approaches that enable continuity of care during disasters. The findings will help inform future resilience planning on the Fraser Coast and contribute to more inclusive, accessible, and effective emergency management arrangements for communities facing increasing climate and disaster risks.
You'll research innovative approaches from Australia and overseas that help people with disability, older people, and others with additional care needs access safe and appropriate support during disasters. Through case study analysis and evidence gathering, you'll identify practical models, partnerships and lessons that can help shape future disaster preparedness and resilience planning for the Resilient CARE program and the Fraser Coast community.
Selection Criteria:
- Experience developing and assessing service delivery or operational models.
- Experience using scenario-based analysis and future planning approaches.
- Knowledge of community resilience and disaster preparedness.
- Experience working with community service organisations.
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex information.
- Experience developing practical recommendations and concise reports.
- Report writing and recommendation development.
